I like free-form or minimal structure as thereā€™s a natural flow to the conversation. Perhaps consider location-based rooms (East Coast, West Coast, etc.) and a ā€œseeking collaborationā€ room wherein members might pitch a passion project that others might be willing to work on.

Oh! Iā€™d also love to have a ā€œProducingā€ room maybe

It looks great! I didn't hate the grade at all. It may have been a little too cool for my taste, but otherwise the shots and framing was really well done!

This feels like a movie, played it on the living room TV šŸæ even my family was checking in to watch how cool some of this is

The holistic insight into challenges posed by the industry is very much appreciated.

Iā€™m realizing I need to prioritize sleeping. itā€™s just so much harder to do nowadays because we have a 14 month old baby girl, and another one on the way šŸ¤Ŗ

I don't know if calling it disappointment is a bit much here, but I can definitely see something in Shane's look as the sun sets. I bet it can be quite frustrating to experience delay over what may feel like an inconsequential detail. Two questions here: 1) Is it ever a good idea to circle back with the client/agency/anyone to address the passage of time? 2) I don't believe the natural sunlight was diffused during the rehearsal shots, unless I'm half asleep or something. Does that mean you would potentially proceed with full blown exposure from the sun??

Does Shane still do commercials or have features taken over at this point?

Also, the age of podcast episode made me realize how long you have been generating educational material. Very impressive! Consistency is everything šŸ™ŒšŸ»

16 hour drive from Orlando to Austinā€¦ hmmm. Road trip time, maybe

Good evening, Shane. Welcome back stateside!I'm both grateful and significantly surprised you circled back to this message months later.

Receiving your response got me feeling like my palms were sweaty, mom's spaghetti, not because I believe I only have one shot or else I miss my chance to blow. There's honor in showing improvement over time, but I also believe first impressions are key.

Hence, I've been hoping to at least get this zero-budget short film through post as I don't believe the scrappy videographer-type work I've been feeding myself with is a real indication of my capability.

I'm aware of the analysis paralysis risk here.

In one of your Director Career Path podcasts, you overtly mention there are many requests by way of students willing to work for "free" but in fact costing the production money (food, insurance, etc.). When I do throw my hat in the ring, I will do so ready to pay the costs of my presence.

Iā€™ll be honest ā€” itā€™s lessons like this that require me to backhand slap the sh!t out of the imposter syndrome I feel creeping in. šŸ«±šŸ§ šŸ’„

What I tell myself after Iā€™m done slapping is itā€™s only a matter of time until I get my hands on these lenses to test them myself, and Iā€™ll be referencing this video when I do.
