Hey all. Please delete if this is not appropriate.
I have a gig in San Diego August 6 - 8th. I'm looking for a place to stay. Does anyone have an extra couch or room I could stay in? Or reccomendations for cheap places to stay?

I’m starting to explore other ways to generate income so I can be financially secure. At the same time I’m scared to deviate too much from the film path and “miss my window”

Hi Shane and Lydia! What kind of reference books are you using? Is it made from a collection of work you have done?

Hey FA. It doesn’t look like the google form is linked to the post.

As for online networking, The People’s Film School run by Rachel Raimist is great. It’s a US based org.

Screen Ireland run by Steven Davenport may be a good resource too.

Sometimes film production companies will host get togethers. It would be worth looking into your local companies and see if anyone is hosting an event. And check instagram and eventbrite for events.

If you’re looking for something that doesn’t exist in your area, maybe it’s time for YOU to get that started! Host a zoom for UK directors and DPs!

Hope this helps!

Hey John!

I’d love to travel and work in Ireland one day! Congratulations on all of your awards on your projects! That’s really cool to see. The amount of work you have done is also impressive. It’s clear you are able to shoot a variety of different genres.

I would definitely cut your reel down to 2 min-ish so people can get a quick glimpse of the work you do. Or make different reels for each genre. It was a bit jarring to see a peaceful documentary clip next to a gritty drama. Save the full scenes for your website and include the film festival laurels next to them.
